Everyone wins in Community

What I’m Looking for Next (and What I Bring to the Community)

Member. Champion. Product manager. Community manager. I’ve worn every hat in the same community, and that arc taught me how to listen, scale, and translate member needs into product action. I tell clear, compelling stories, present confidently on camera and on stage, run user groups and ambassador programs, and am a Dev in Ops Clothing: an operations-first leader who writes light code to automate, measure, and scale community impact.

What I’m looking for next

I want a role where community is treated as a strategic function rather than an afterthought.  Communities drive product adoption, retention, and advocacy. Specifically, I’m looking for:

  • Strategic ownership: the ability to design programs that influence product and business outcomes.
  • Cross-functional influence: a seat at the table with product, marketing, and customer success.
  • Opportunities to scale: programs that can grow from pilots into repeatable systems.
  • People-first culture: teams that invest in psychological safety, learning, and development.
  • Clear outcomes and autonomy: ownership of measurable KPIs and the freedom to iterate.

What I bring to the table

I combine program design, people skills, and an operational mindset that keeps things reliable and repeatable.  I excel in storytelling because I know the problems, I’ve lived the problems, and I know when and how solutions connect people and success.

Dev in Ops Clothing

I’m first and foremost an operations person who loves to write a little code when it helps the job. That means I design dependable systems, automate repetitive work, and instrument programs so impact is visible and repeatable. I bridge strategy and execution: I’ll build the playbook and the small scripts that make the playbook run.

Program design and execution

  • Onboarding cohorts that accelerate time-to-value and increase retention.
  • Community Champion programs that surface advocates, reduce support load, and generate referrals.
  • User groups and meetups that create regional hubs of activity and deepen product adoption.

Content and presentation

  • Storytelling that makes community impact visible to product and executive teams.
  • On-camera presence and conference experience for webinars, panels, and keynotes.
  • Content that converts: tutorials, case studies, event recaps, and community-driven product stories.

People skills and leadership

  • Build rapport both online and in person; create environments where people want to participate.
  • Experienced moderator and facilitator who balances open conversation with safety and inclusivity.
  • Hire and mentor community members into senior roles.

Cross-functional influence and tooling

  • Translate community signals into product requests and prioritized roadmap items.
  • Partner with marketing, product, and customer success to align programs with business goals.
  • Hands-on with multiple platforms and forum tooling; integrate with customer and analytics to capture signals, automate workflows, and determine champions.

Concrete examples and measurable impact

  • Onboarding members: designed a new member program that increased 30-day retention for new users through structured gamification and milestone-based content, while teaching the best practices for the platform.
  • Community Champion program: revamped an ambassador program that produced high-quality content and amplified product feedback loops.
  • Events and presentations: scaled local meetups and online events with strong attendee satisfaction and measurable follow-up engagement.
  • Product impact: ran ideation campaigns that surfaced high-priority issues and helped shape fixes that improved user satisfaction.

How I work

Questions-first I start every program by defining the question we want to answer and the user outcome we’re optimizing for.

Data + story I combine quantitative signals with qualitative stories to make a persuasive case for investment.

Iterate quickly Launch small, measure, and scale what works; stop what doesn’t.

People-centered Programs are designed for real humans.  Define clear expectations, recognition, and pathways to contribute.

Operational discipline I build runbooks, dashboards, and automations so the team spends time on relationships, not repetitive tasks.

How I measure success

Primary KPIs

  • Retention and churn
  • Activation and time-to-value
  • NPS and CSAT for community-influenced programs
  • Engagement depth (DAU/MAU, posts per active user, event attendance)

Reporting cadence

  • Weekly operational dashboard for the team
  • Monthly executive summary with impact stories and product asks
  • Quarterly strategic review aligning community roadmap with company goals

Final Notes

If you value community as a strategic lever – one that drives product adoption, retention, and advocacy – I bring a blend of strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and people-first leadership. I build programs that scale, tell the stories that matter, and create the conditions for members to become advocates.

This is the final post in my Systems, Stories, and Signals series. It’s been a rewarding run: I took time to look back, examine today, and think about the trajectory of the future. I’m closing the series here, but I’m happy to keep the conversation rolling.  Ask questions on any post in the series and I’ll respond. If you want to dig into a specific program, metric, or runbook, I’m glad to share what worked, what didn’t, and what I’d try next.
