About Me

Hi, I’m Kevin.

I’ve spent most of my career living at the intersection of technology and people—which usually means translating something complex into something that actually makes sense (and ideally doesn’t make you want to flip a table). Whether it’s product strategy, community building, or developer-focused work, my goal has always been the same: help people understand the tools they’re using and get real value out of them.

I’ve worn a few different hats over the years—Product Management, Community Management, Developer Relations, IT leadership, and more—but the common thread through all of it is education. I genuinely enjoy helping people connect the dots, whether that’s through documentation, walkthroughs, community engagement, or just being available to answer the “why does this do that?” questions.

I tend to gravitate toward roles where I can:

• Advocate for users (especially the ones who aren’t in the room)
• Turn complicated systems into approachable experiences
• Build and support communities that actually help people
• Bridge the gap between technical teams and real-world users

Right now, I’m looking for my next opportunity in Product Management, Community, or Developer Relations—somewhere I can keep doing what I love: educating, enabling, and empowering users.

Outside of work, I’m a tinkerer by nature. If something can be self-hosted, automated, containerized, or over-engineered just a little bit for fun… I’ve probably tried it. I run a home lab, build observability stacks, and generally enjoy figuring out how things work under the hood (and occasionally breaking them in the process).

This blog is an extension of that mindset—a place where I share experiments, lessons learned, and the occasional deep dive into something that caught my interest. Some posts are polished, some are more “thinking out loud,” but they all come from the same place: curiosity and a desire to share what I’ve learned.

If you’re into technology, communities, or just making complex things simpler (possibly after making them more complex to start), you’ll probably feel at home here.

Outside of technology, Kevin enjoys traditional archery, blacksmithing, woodworking, and motorcycle day trips with his wife, Dana. He’s also a proud fur parent to Peanut (a pug/shih tzu/yorkie mix) and Pistachio (a mini poodle/shih tzu mix). The Sparenberg family resides in the Mid-Atlantic region.
